Sleep apnea is a condition that can seriously affect your quality of rest and overall health. While dentists cannot diagnose sleep apnea, they can play an important role in treatment by providing oral appliance therapy. If you live in Spokane or nearby communities such as Reardan, WA, and struggle with loud snoring or disrupted sleep, an oral appliance may be a life-changing option. Beyond helping you feel more refreshed, this solution could also earn you plenty of gratitude from your partner.
Here are five reasons why:
Snoring is one of the most common complaints from partners of those with sleep apnea. Oral appliances work by gently repositioning your jaw to keep your airway open, which reduces or even eliminates snoring. Your partner will thank you for trading in sleepless, noisy nights for peaceful rest.
Partners often wake up throughout the night to nudge or wake a loved one who stops breathing, snores excessively, or tosses and turns. By improving your breathing patterns, an oral appliance helps you and your partner both sleep through the night without interruptions—or the occasional elbow jab to get you to roll over.
When you’re well-rested, you wake up with more energy, patience, and focus. Your partner benefits, too, because a refreshed version of you means more positive interactions throughout the day. From morning conversations to evening activities, both of you will notice an improvement in your overall moods and connection.
Unlike CPAP machines, which can be noisy and bulky, oral appliances are small, quiet, and easy to travel with. Your partner won’t have to adjust to the sound of a machine running beside them at night. Instead, you’ll both enjoy a simple, non-invasive solution that promotes restful sleep.
Sleep apnea can increase the risk of serious health issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, and daytime fatigue that may lead to accidents. By treating your sleep apnea with an oral appliance, you’ll be improving your long-term health, which means less worry and more peace of mind for your partner. They’ll thank you for taking a proactive step to protect your well-being and your future together.
